- To book the Dyslexia Determination
Test (DDT)
Developed by doctors John R. Griffin
and Howard N. Walton, this test determines if one is dyslexic, what
type of dyslexia, if one has short-term memory, auditory sequencing
problems, reversal of numbers or letters, eye coordination problems or
other learning challenges. The test will also determine if one does
not have dyslexia.
- To reserve a place on the next I
Beat Dyslexia 15-hour basic course.
This course covers:
- History of Sir Robert D. Jones, Jr.
- Testing and identifying learning
disabilities
- Self-esteem
- Motivation
- Relaxation
- Nutrition
The course begins with the history of
Sir Robert Jones, who taught himself to read at age 29, using the method
he now shares with you. We then address the critical issues of
self-esteem, motivation, and relaxation.
Most people with dyslexia suffer low
self-esteem, which will hinder them from reaching their highest
potential if not addressed and corrected. It is also important to
maintain high motivation in order for students to hold and realize the
dream of being able to read and spell like everyone else.
During the course, the student will
learn the importance of relaxation to help maintain in even chemical
balance in the brain. This balance is also affected by nutrition and
diet. Improper nutrition causes chemical imbalance in the brain and we
have found that chemical imbalance is a cause of dyslexia.
The course includes the use of the
Brain Gym – simple activities for whole-brain learning based on the
book by Paul E. Dennison, Ph.D., and Gail Dennison.
During the course, students will learn
how they perceive letters, numbers, and words differently from other
people, why these do not stay in their long-term memory, and how we can
create new synapses in the brain to hold long-term memory.
In just five days, the student will
experience tremendous change. They will have the ability to read and
spell words that they were unable to read and spell at the beginning of
the course. These words will then stay in long-term memory for the rest
of their life.
The next step would be for the student
to receive one-to-one tutoring, or for a parent or instructor to take
the instructor’s course and continue the student’s education.
- To have Sir Jones address my staff,
or membership, on how to combat dyslexia, "the hidden
handicap", and other learning disabilities.
- To receive information on how I can
join DYSLEXIA in combating illiteracy in my community.
- To have Sir Jones lecture children
and adults with learning disabilities to motivate and build
self-esteem.
